If you answered NO to ANY of the questions, then you NEED to "re-think" your practice strategy -- IF the purpose of your playing is to generate a reaction from your listeners and YOU!

But don't feel bad.

Only about 1 in 200 students I teach, COULD answer YES to each QUESTION.

Many have been misled by "well-meaning" Online Piano Instruction Programs, especially... the serious student musician of piano.

There are FOUR "practice models," that provide the necessary physicality, to produce sound with your fingers, on the KEYBOARD!

Here's the PROBLEM!

Online Piano Instruction Programs... DO NOT TEACH the FOUR PRACTICE MODELS!

Why?

Below, is a "Rhythmic Notation" example of the song.

This is how professional musicians notate a song in an abbreviated fashion.

This way, you can use your ears, and just interpret the chord symbols, as you wish!

Adult Piano Students Devote TOO Much Time Trying to Play the Correct Notes, and DON'T Focus on Maintaining an EVEN Tempo!

It's only natural for ANYBODY to want to play a SONG, from beginning to end, as soon as possible.

Just because you can PLAY the CORRECT notes, doesn't mean anything, if your timing is "OUT of TEMPO... if you can't keep a BEAT!

The HUMAN ear can tolerate incorrect notes, with an EVEN, "strict" tempo. BUT, it CANNOT tolerate correct notes, with INCONSISTENT, "out of sync" RHYTHM.

You must learn to MAINTAIN a GROOVE... a POCKET!

This is what I DEMAND from my students.

Those that subscribe to this FACT, are successful.

Those that don't, are now "educated" members of the AUDIENCE :-)

When you focus on RHYTHM, you will finally ENJOY your moments creating music on the keyboards, and your listeners will ENJOY your PERFORMANCE, as well!

WHY?

Because it's, HYPNOTIZING!

Remember... "music calms the savage beast!"

Moreover, you will progress more quickly and begin to play more COMFORTABLY!

Here's an example:

You should practice and repeat this PATTERN (groove) for at least 5 to 10 minutes.

If the sample tempo is too FAST, SLOW it DOWN!

It's just a C Major chord. The bass line is "outlining" the HARMONY!
